ANDREW KEYSER m. MARY PALMER
ANDREW KEYSER, believed to be descended
from Dirck Keyser, was born October
15, 1759, (most likely in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA) and died May 27, 1835 in
Belmont County, OH. Andrew married Henry
Palmer’s daughter MARY PALMER on
December 27, 1778, likely in Washington County PA and
not Belmont County, Ohio. Mary was born April 22,
1760 and she died on the 12th of June 1844.
They married on December 27,
1778. They migrated to Belmont County sometime around 1800,
settling in Mead Township and farming there. Andrew is
buried in a cemetery along Ramsey Road (Old Dixon Myers farm) in
Section 14, Belmont County, Mead Township. Mary is buried
alongside her husband. Andrew and Mary became the
parents of 13 children:

(Married Christopher
Hinkle). One daughter

This grave is located on the farm that Thomas
and his wife Susanna Allender Keyser owned.

13. HENRY PALMER KEYSER, born November 23, 1805; died. June
16, 1883; m. EMMELINE "AMY" BELL 1825
(said to be 1/2 Native American).
Henry and Amy operated a farm near Wegee, Belmont County, OH, and had nine
children. Henry died on January 16, 1883 and is buried in the Keyser
Cemetery Belmont County, OH on the old Dixon Myers farm in Sec. 14, Mead
Township. One of their daughters was Nancy J. Keyser,
born March 22, 1844 and died young on December 24, 1850.

Maygar observation:
Henry
Palmer and Emmeline Bell Keyser had nine children. Seven of the
children grew up to marry and many of them raised large families
of their own. A sad story, however, emerges as one looks into
the facts behind the gravestone pictured here. Henry and
Emmeline’s second child and first daughter
was Nancy B. (probably Bell) Keyser who was born on September 2,
1828
and died at the
age of six on December 20, 1834 just five days before Christmas.
It had to be heartbreaking for them as they made funeral
arrangements for their daughter while trying to have some kind
of Christmas for the other four children. Almost ten years
later, Emmeline gives birth to their last child on March 29,
1844. She is a beautiful little girl and they name her Nancy
Jane. Tragically, Nancy Jane dies the day before Christmas in
1850 also at the age of six years.
The grief that befell the family put a
pall of sadness on Christmas for
many years thereafter.

Maryland. Her line is traced back to Richard John Workman (Dirk Jan
Woertman) who came to America in 1647 from Amsterdam. Peggy and

AMOS W. KEYSER, a farmer, was born
1807 in Belmont County OH, and died May 13, 1889 in Limestone, Marshall
County, WV. He married MARGARET WHITE April 02, 1829 in Marshall County, WV, daughter of
James White and Elizabeth McDoll.
Amos’ Will was dated 30th day of May 1888, one year prior to his death.

JOHN
LOVE KEYSER was born 1842, and died in 1896. He is buried
at Unity Cem., New Athens, OH. John married MARTHA
HEATON 1865. John was a P rivate in the Sixth
Regiment of West Virginia Infantry Volunteers, from which he was
discharged in June 1865. It is my understanding that John Love fought
for the Union in the Civil War, and his brothers William and James
were part of the Confederate troops. Family tradition
says that John Love helped his brothers escape from a military prison and
then suffered his own imprisonment for that offense. John Love had 8 children: Emma Viola, Amos Elmer,
Charles White, ALVA GRANT, William
Chalmer, John Calvin, Carrie Jane and Annie Laurie Keyser.

ALVA GRANT KEYSER was born in 1872,
and died in 1956 in OH. He married his first
cousin once removed AMANDA LEONA JEFFERSON
in 1898. Alva and “Leona” became dairy
farmers in Northampton, OH.
The Keyser home in Cuyahoga was
originally built by the Best family in 1877 with J. C. Johnston, an in-law
and master builder erected the farmhouse. In 1905 the Keyser family
purchased the home. The Keysers sold a portion of their land to the
City of Cuyahoga Falls in 1986, and then the final portion in 1993. This
property is now known as Keyser Park, in Cuyahoga Falls and is named in
honor of Alva. This is the last home in the area (783 West Bath Road)
which has "Italianate and Eastlake style influence" per

Carrie Keyser Swain was a local historian and instrumental in forming the
society. She led the restoration of "Old Center Schoolhouse" as a
meeting place and museum for citizens. The one-room schoolhouse was
destroyed by a tornado on July 12, 1992 that took the schoolhouse off of its
foundation and carried it 75 feet away, smashing it flat. Artifacts
were strewn afar also.

Chris Bernert, Head, Age 40 (born 1880), emigrated to American
in 1913. Still listed as "Alien" versus "Naturalized"
in 1920. Chris, his wife Mary (age 38), his daughter Lizzie (age 14), his
son Peter (age 12) and his daughter Barbara (age 10) all were born in Hungary to
Hungarian parents. It is listed that Mary could not read nor write, but
the others could. Chris was a factory laborer, and Mary did day
work.
 
He passed away after a traffic accident at Moross and 7 Mile Rd. He was a
passenger and received a large bump on the head that lead to his death.
